 Mission Statement

  • As part of our spiritual journey, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton El Salvador Committee exists to build on our long term relationship with our sister parish – Our Lady of Guadalupe in Rutilio Grande and the people of El Salvador – through heightened awareness of their local, regional, and national issues.
  • Our support is founded on the principles of an enduring empathy for their historical struggles and developing a sense of a mutual faith community separated by miles and united by love.
  • The bond of personal experiences is strengthened as we walk together in solidarity – while relying on Jesus to guide us in the future.

Mission Appeal Weekend – November 4 & 5, 2017

Mission weekend is set aside to celebrate and support our “walk” with our sister parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Rutilio Grande, El Salvador and the people of the region.  While sharing the same faith and principles, this twinning relationship allows us to grow as Disciples of Christ and implement what it means “to be one” with someone of a different culture.  Your donation “gives the gift of hope.”
How are we doing this?

  • Prayer, visits and making personal connections through ongoing dialogue via email, Facebook and Skype conversations.
  • By listening to and learning about the culture and struggles of El Salvador. This is possible by attending the monthly committee meetings and participating in the communications that enhance and grow the relationship between the two parishes.
  • Funding sustainable projects:
  1. $11. – You provide one senior citizen with one month’s food staples.
  2. $137. – You provide one senior with one year of food staples.
  3. $100. – You provide one month’s transportation to mass for the community.
  4. $400. – You fund the school garden that provides the students with healthy snacks and teaches lessons in agriculture.
  5. $415. – You provide tuition for one year for a middle or high school student.
  6. $1,000 – You offer the opportunity to purchase seed or start a small business via the very successful micro credit loan program.

These are just a few examples of programs our parish provides for the community and region.  100% of your contribution goes directly to the sponsorship of these programs.  During our visits and ongoing communications, we have witnessed the success and impact our continued support offers the community.

Please take a blue contribution envelope offered to you after mass and prayerfully give from the heart in support of our “fellow parishioners” of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mail in or return your envelope in the next few weeks.  Gracias!
